The mixed choir Cantate of Erps-Kwerps

The mixed choir Cantate was founded in 1974 by Constant Meeus, who had been the conductor of the choir till 1996.
The choir is formed by 38 enthousiastic singers who share the idea that music is a universal language bringing people and cultures together beyond borders.
One of the means of improving technical skills of the choir is participating in contests and choir meetings.
The ensemble sings at religious services, weddings, Christmas markets and has performed with own concerts a.o. in Brussels, Steenokkerzeel, Boortmeerbeek, Koksijde, Luxembourg, France and Prague.Next is foreseen in Germany fall 2004.
The choir is also active in organising concerts for other choirs from several parts of the world.
Cantate is conducted by Hilde de Coster, who has joined the choir as a singer and later on has taken over as a conductor.
She took private courses a.o. from Lou Van Cleynenbreugel, director of the Arenbergh Choir of Leuven, where she also participates as a soprano singer.

Gemengd Koor Cantate uit Erps-Kwerps

Het Gemengd Koor Cantate werd opgericht in 1974 door Constant Meeus, die er de leiding van op zich nam tot in 1996.
Het koor bestaat uit 38 enthoesiaste zangers die samen het idee delen dat muziek een universele taal is die mensen en culturen verenigt over de grenzen heen.
Eén van de manieren om de technische koorvaardigheid te verhogen is deelname aan wedstrijden en koortreffens.
Het ensemble zingt bij religieuze vieringen, huwelijken, Kerstmarkten en trad o.m. op met eigen concerten in Brussel, Koksijde, Steenokkerzeel, Boortmeerbeek, Luxemburg, Frankrijk en Praag. Het volgende is gepland in Duitsland voor 2004.
Het koor houdt zich ook actief bezig met het organiseren van concerten voor andere koren uit verschillende delen van de wereld (Frankrijk, Nederland en de VS).
Cantate staat onder leiding van Hilde de Coster, die aanvankelijk als zanger bij het koor kwam en later diriginte werd.
Zij volgde daarvoor privélessen bij o.a. Lou Van Cleynenbreugel, dirigent van het Leuvens Arenberg Koor, waar zij tevens sopraan is.

La chorale mixte Cantate a été fondée en 1974 par Constant Meeus, qui en a pris la charge jusqu'en 1996.
Elle est composée de 38 chanteurs enthousiasmés partageant l'idée que la musique est un langage universel, rapprochant et unifiant les gens et leurs cultures à travers les frontières.
L'une des façons d'approuver la performance technique vocale est la participation aux concours.
L'ensemble chante à l'occasion de services religieux, de mariages, des marchés de Noël, et donnait des performances lors de concerts organisés à Bruxelles, Koksyde, Steenokkerzeel, Boortmeerbeek, Luxembourg, France et Prague. Le concert suivant est programmé pour l' Allemagne en 2004.
Le chœur s'engage activement dans l'organisation de concerts pour d'autres chœurs aussi, de différents parts du monde (France, Hollande, Etats Unis).
Cantate est sous la direction de Hilde de Coster, originaire soprani du coeur même, devenue dirigente plus tard.
Elle a pris des cours privés chez e.a. Lou Van Cleynenbreugel, dirigent du chœur Arenberg de Louvain, ou elle participe également comme soprani.
